Part-time Maintenance Worker
Rate of Pay: Wage depending on experience and availability.
Hours: Work 24 hours in a seven day period. May include weekends and holidays.
Work environment: Will perform duties indoors and outdoors which may include inclement weather conditions.
Duties: Under the supervision of zoo personnel:
- Perform janitorial duties such as cleaning bathrooms, mopping, hosing and garbage removal.
- Assist with duties such as planting, weed control, mowing and care of grounds; and performs snow removal operations.
- Assist with daily operational needs of equipment, buildings, exhibits and grounds.
- Assist with zoo projects as directed by full-time zoo staff.
- Perform landscaping and grounds duties as directed.
- Other duties that pertain to the daily operation of a zoological park.
Desirable Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED certificate; some maintenance experience; knowledge of basic hand and power tools; able to work independently; the ability to lift 75lbs; ability to communicate effectively with other staff; must have a valid driver’s license.

Part-time Visitor’s Service Worker
Rate of Pay: $11.00 – $11.25 per hour, depending on experience.
Hours: Hours vary between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Summer hours vary between 8:00 am – 8:00 pm on weekdays, weekends and holidays
Duties: Under the supervision of the Office Specialist II and zoo personnel, the daily operation of the admissions, concessions and gift areas. This will include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Operation of the cash registers and concession equipment
- Taking admissions and concession/gift shop money
- Providing concessions, gifts and general information to the public
- Opening and closing routines
- Maintenance of a clean facility
- Selling Lake Area Zoological Society memberships
- May assist with educational programs
- Other duties as assigned
Desirable Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age; must demonstrate the ability to operate a cash register and other concession equipment; must be accurate with admissions and revenues; must have a working knowledge of positive public relations; must be able to give directions to patrons.
